what i've been up to

I feel like I am CONSTANTLY creating something and always have projects going. Just in the past week I have finished some paintings, made a button bracelet, made t-shirt headbands, made a belt, started making a binder for the little girl I nanny, made a fleece tie blanket.. woof I feel like I am forgetting some things.

first- this is a picture of some paintings I have been working on- the top two I  made along with the bottom one, the middle photo is from my brother. :) (he is creative too!) For the top two that say "It is well with my soul" I simply just drew out the letters and added paint! The bottom one was super duper easy too- masking tape + paint. :)

second- t shirt headbands!! SO stinking easy! I found the idea on pinterest but all of them I found were a 5 strand braid- I didn't feel that exciting so I stuck to a normal braid! All you have to do is cut 3 strips of t-shirt material-- either use an old t-shirt or you can buy jersey knit at a fabric store. Anyway, I cut mine about 1 1/2 inches wide and roughly the length around my head x2. I then lined up the ends and used hot glue to glue them all together- stuck them under something heavy and pulled on them so each strand kind of curled under. Then I simply just braided them. When I got to the end I held it together with my fingers and measured around my head - and then glued all of the strands together where it fit perfectly around my head! THEN I glued both ends on top of one another and took an extra piece of t-shirt (about 2in wide by 2 in long) and wrapped it around the spot where I glued them all together. (looks much prettier that way) Gosh, this sounds much much more complicated than it really is- I am kind of BA... but... I made one in 10 minutes. (I wanted to wear it to a get together! ha!)

third- belt is to come. please hold.

Those are the most crafty and fun things I did this week but I want to show you something I did a while ago. These frames used to have pictures from my trip to Spain in them but they were old and really needed to be replaced... I didn't know which pictures to use but came up with a new idea-- WORD WALL! Who doesn't need to be reminded by someone else's thoughts daily?! anyway, here is a picture :) -->

how many first times do i get?

ahhhmmm. Here we are again. I have decided to blog... again. I am usually not very good at keeping up with blogging but my summer goal is to try. but why?

1. I create things ALL the time and a friend recently told me I should share what I create, so why not? (I steal most of it from pinterest but... I mean, who doesn't?!)
2. I am learning a lot and I LOVE to learn and I feel like God is really teaching me a lot lately and well, it might be good to write about it.
3. I am OBSESSED with teaching. like really obsessed. I am diving head first into my first year of teaching and I think it would be really cool to document this journey, the successes and failures.
4. I've always wanted to be a writer.

so I guess there is a first time for everything right? does it count if this is your 5th "first time"? if your name is Anna it does! welcome to my whirlwind life of creating, learning and teaching!

grace + peace, amigos.
